Day 18 Pemba - Moçimboa Da Praia

Last night there were heavy rains pouring like a waterfalls all night, but we were quite happy about it because it turned down the heat a bit, so we were able to have some sleep:) In the morning we went for a walk to the beach nearby. The tide was low, there are some beautiful and huge houses right at the beach, but most of them unfinished:
Even if the beach was deserted by the people because it was out of city centre, there were lots of rubbish all over the place:
If you choose to ignore the pollution and unfinished construction on the coast, you would think you are in a paradise:
This was our campsite, it is called Pemba Magic Lodge. It was a great place that has swimming pool, large bar and restaurant. The place is open not just for tourists, but also for locals that come for a drink or dinner:
Soon we went for a drive back to Pembas downtown area. Loads of litter wherever you look:

This is the famous Wimbi beach:
There are many hotels, lodges and self catering apartments in Pemba:

In some parts of Pemba there is a lot of building going on, Chinese presence is all around, new roads, new supermarkets:
In Pemba there is one of the Worlds biggest natural harbour:
Mountains of litter have been burned:
After driving around Pemba, we took the road alongside the coast, South of Pemba there are many small roads that goes criss-cross towards the beach and there are located few lodges. Some of them offer camping as well:

The tide was low and there are many people picking seafood:
Soon we were on the road again towards Tanzania:
Then a bit of short and heavy showers:

We passed the little village called Chai, where in 1964 Frelimo started military campaign against colonial rule. There is a small monument just next to the road:
And very soon we were in town called Moçimboa da Praia. We found it much nicer than Pemba. Went to the local bar and had a couple of hour chat with the barmen, he told us his life story and gave us few hints about Tanzania which we were to be crossing the next day:
Kids love posing to the camera:
In the evening we went back to camping and cooked remaining prawns.....
There were 6 dogs that lived at the camping called Chaz Natalie, those dogs were starving and could eat a horse, we gave them some left overs and promised ourselves that next time we gonna travel Africa we will take some dogs food with us:
We went to bed and it was our last day in Mozambique before crossing into Tanzania...
