Day 1 Cape Town - Jagerberg Camping

We left Cape Town in the morning and headed North. It was Thursday and we were heading to Pretoria to make our visas for Tanzania, we had to be in the Embassy on Monday. So we had 4 days to get there. We made a provisional route taking backroads to Pretoria. It was nice and hot day, beautiful scenery. Drove to Malmesbury, Moorreesburg and up until Clanwilliam on N7.

Then we turned off to R364, our favourite gravel roads:) went through Pakhuis pass:

We crossed some tight bridges:

Then we stopped to put Irish Rugby Flags on the Trucks mirrors :D

We went over another beautiful pass - Botterkloof Pass and came back on tar road towards Calvinia where we filled up with diesel:

After that we headed towards Williston, empty beautiful roads. And very hot outside!!!

It was afternoon and time to look for a camp. Not many campsites around this area… Just farms… The next town was Carnarvon, but there was no good campsite, it looked abandoned, one of those municipal camps where you must find somebody who manages the place and when you call them - nobody answers the phone.:/// So we went on looking for a better place to camp. And we found on Tracks4Africa one farm that allows to camp. So we went a bit off our planned route heading North. Nice gravel roads….. and dust behind :D

We turned off the road into farmlands. Beautiful settings - The sun was getting lower, cactuses everywhere.

We camped at the place called Pasoppie Koppie which means Watch your head!!! :D Because the houses were so old and low, so you could hit your head. Not a big deal for Sinty though :D:D:D The owners were very friendly and helpful, Donald and Kathleen. Had a great conversation with them. After the dinner we rushed into our tent as we were bombed by Christmas Beetles :D Our Campsite:
