Day 35 Buffalo Camp - Nhamabwe

January 13, 2016

This day we were going back to our favourite spot in Mozambique - Nhamabwe. We were not far from there so there was no rush. On the road again typical african scenery - overloaded vehicles, this time bus: :)
Things for sale. Around this area there was a  lot of delicious honey for sale. We are not big fans of honey usually, but this one was really good, it was pretty liquid, with a smokey flavour to it. People use smoke to get out bees and gather the honey.
Soon we arrived to Vilanculos. Nice beachy style town. Many lodges around this area. We went to garage to fix mudflap for the car, it was loose.
The streets are sandy here:
Then we went to Johnson's Bar, that is the place you can buy permit to drive on the beach to get to Nhamabwe. Otherwise you must take the road that goes through the swam.
We left Vilanculos and drove towards Nhamabwe through a very small road, most of the time the road led us through people's gardens:)
Looks like a small path rather than a road:
There were lots of bushes and thorns on the road:
And one huge thorn on our tyre! So we stopped and changed the tyre:
Next thing - the swamp! That was slip and slide drive!!!
Anyways soon we arrived at our favourite spot in Mozambique! We set up our camp, went for a walk. Close to us there was a small local bar:
The bay:
On the other side of the peninsula there is an open ocean:
Signs for the lodges that are around here:
Soon we got hungry and cooked delicious prawns that we bought in Vilanculos:
Prawns and pineapples!
So we were nicely settled and our plans were to stay here for a couple of days...
